Report: The State of Knowledge Management in Hospitals
Key findings from a national survey of nearly 400 medical professionals
In a healthcare setting, having the right medical knowledge can mean the difference between life and death. Yet our data shows that in many hospitals, this clinical knowledge is dispersed among multiple systems and disconnected from workflows, often leading to less-than-ideal outcomes.
Between February and May 2024, C8 Health surveyed 398 medical professionals to get a closer look at the current state of knowledge management in hospitals.
Here are just a few of the findings:
- Nearly 50% of respondents reported witnessing subpar care as a result of poor knowledge access
- 13 of every 100 of these incidents resulted in patient injury or death
- In critical care, that number jumps to one in three
How can healthcare professionals address the issues leading to these outcomes and improve their knowledge management systems?
